Evidence Suggests The Biblical Flood Actually Happened - Robert Ballard, Underwater Archaeologist.

In one of his most recent interviews with ABC's Christiane Amanpour, Robert Ballard (i.e. the underwater archaeologist who managed to locate the remains of the Titanic) has explained that, as far as he is concerned, the biblical flood actually happened. 

Whether or not this flood came as a result of people's acting in ways that ended up upsetting an all-mighty divinity is something theologists need bother themselves with. 

What Robert Ballard cares about is the fact that, during one of his most recent research expeditions in Turkey, he found archaeological proof that, at some point in the past, a civilization that resided and flourished in this part of the world was swept away by a massive flood, Huffington Post reports. 

It is Robert Ballard's belief that, roughly 12,000 years ago, when the ice sheets that covered the earth almost in its entirety first began to melt, several major floods are quite likely to have happened as a result of the glacial water's rush to make it all the way to the ocean. 

“Where I live in Connecticut was ice a mile above my house, all the way back to the North Pole, about 15 million kilometers, that's a big ice cube. But then it started to melt. We're talking about the floods of our living history,” Robert Ballard said. 

“The questions is, was there a mother of all floods,” this researcher went on to add. 

Following in the footsteps of a theory first pieced together by two specialists working with the University of Columbia, Robert Ballard took it upon himself to investigate whether or not the Black Sea might have at one point been flooded by whopping amounts of water coming from the Mediterranean Sea. 

The evidence they found supports the theory that, around 5,000 BC. (roughly the time when the biblical flood occurred), the Black Sea did in fact witness a drastic change in its shorelines. 

“It probably was a bad day. At some magic moment, it broke through and flooded this place violently, and a lot of real estate, 150,000 square kilometers of land, went under,” Robert Ballard joked on this topic. 

Robert Ballard plans to return to Turkey next year, and further investigate this theory.
