PDP Topshots Die In Plane Crash: Olusegun Agagu's Son Survived Plane Crash



Tragedy: Obasanjo’s Son, Agagu Children, PDP Topshots Die In Plane Crash-Tragedy struck on Thursday morning as a plane crash has claimed the life of many dignitaries attending the funeral of the late Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu.
The body of the departed Governor was being conveyed in a chartered aircraft from Lagos for burial rites in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
About 27 people were reported to be on board of the Aircraft, with about 16 people confirmed dead. The plane crashed shortly after it took off from the Domestic Wing of the Murtala International Airport, Lagos.

Casualties include, Gbenga Obasanjo, son of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the wife of the late governor and his children accompanying the body and many Peoples Democratic Party top stalwarts who were traveling for the burial  rites to be commenced today in Akure, Ondo State. The son of former presidential aspirant, Chief Olu Falae, Mr Deji Falae and the Nigerian  Minister of Culture and Tourism.
The maker of the Casket in which the body was to be buried,  one Mr Okusanya of  MIC Casket also died.
He was accompanying the family on goodwill gesture in sympathy.
It was confirmed that there were five survivors and they were rushed to the hospital. The casket of the former governor have been deposited in the nearby naval base in Ikeja.
According to the Ministry of Aviation’s spokesman, Joe Obi, there were few survivors in the crash.
The light Aircraft was said to have been chartered from the Associated Airlines with seven crew membersand and 20 passengers.
“The plane couldn’t lift properly so it just came down,” Obi said. “Some persons are being rushed to hospital. A few dead bodies have been recovered, but there are survivors.”
Yakubu Dati, Coordinating General Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), confirmed that there had been casualties as many were   killed.
