POLICE TO DECLARE APC CHIEFTAIN / WIFE BEATER WANTED IF HE DOESN'T SHOW UP

Victoria
Women Arise, a non governmental organisation has called for the arrest of an Ogun State All Progressives Congress chieftain, Mr. Bayo Awosanya, who last Sunday was reported to have assaulted his wife- to- be, Ms. Victoria Awosanya at their Sagamu residence; Punch reports.
In a petition to the Inspector General of Police, President of Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, said Bayo was in the habit of assaulting Victoria, whom he had accused of not joining him at a social event. A report of the incident was said to have been lodged at the Sagamu Police Division.

It read in part, “But for the fortunate intervention of the security man at the gate, who stepped in to rescue Victoria, Bayo would have succeeded with the murder attempt. He was on the verge, already.
“Victoria upon her rescue, had lost energy to stand to her feet. She tubed out blood from her skull and her wears were soaked in her blood.  Her torturer had strongly hit her head against the window glasses and its railings.

“While Bayo is said to be out of town, we have been told he attends political functions and congresses of the APC. We call on gallant men of the Nigerian Police Force to visit Bayo at such rallies and arrest him to face his charges. He must not go scot free.”

A medical report made available to PUNCH Metro from the Crescent hospital, Sabo-Sagamu where Victoria was treated, read, “We are writing on behalf of the above named patient who was rushed in on April 20 2014, as a case of reported physical assault.

“This was evident by blood soaked clothing and pulled off hair weave from the scalp. The patient was bleeding profusely from the face and head, fatal swelling and multiple bruises all over her body.” Victoria was reportedly hospitalised for four days before she was eventually discharged after reasonable clinical recovery.

Bayo in a reply to a text message by our correspondent said, “I am not around but you can make yourself available on Tuesday at Sagamu by 12 noon.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Muyiwa Adejobi when contacted said that the command was aware of the incident.

He said, “We have commenced investigations but we have been unable to get Bayo. We were told that he would be at the APC congress at Abeokuta on Saturday but he didn’t show up.

“We have contacted Victoria to find out if there are other houses he owns where he could be staying but she also is not aware of his whereabouts. We will continue to be on the lookout for him.

“He has been contacted and has assured us that he would come to our office. I have also been in touch with Okei-Odumakin on this issue and have assured her that the matter is being investigated.

“However, if he doesn’t show up, we will follow the due procedures and declare him wanted.”
