Tips For Jesus Instagram Shows Off Mystery Man's Mega Generous Thousand-Dollar Tips

Tips For Jesus
Launched on September 8, the Tips for Jesus Instagram page, which has yet to go viral, shows off insanely large tips left for restaurant and bar staff by a mystery man.

His first act of business came in the form of a $3,000 tip for an $87.98 check. Now, we’re no mathematicians or anything, but that sounds like way more than 15%.

Since then, the figures have only gotten more ridiculous and Tips for Jesus has struck over 15 times.

Whenever you hear about tipping staff in the news, it’s usually negative, but Tips For Jesus on Instagram is spreading the wealth to all.

From San Francisco to Indiana, the mysterious user behind the account uploads photos of checks with potentially life-changing tips.
Easily the most insane tip of all was at Legends of Notre Dame where Tips For Jesus left a $5,000 tip on a bill of $84.
Which makes us wonder…
  • How long can mystery man actually keep this up? (i.e. How rich is this dude?)
  • Will we ever find out his true identity? (i.e. When will a TV station or news site offer him enough money?)
  • Why can’t this guy afford a nice manicure if he’s going around dropping $10,000 tips?
OK, not gonna lie, kind of wanna be Tips for Jesus guy.

But even though this excessive generosity seems like any waiter/waitresses dream come true, banks have been having a hard time deciding whether or not these tips should be considered fraud and clearing the crazy amounts has been a hassle.

A member of Legends’ staff actually brought this up, commenting on a photo of the receipt Tips for Jesus guy left at their restau: “So I have a question, you guys tipped us $10,000 at Notre Dame when they played USC and they never paid us. We have been trying to figure out what is really going on. They said the tip didn’t go through but we are starting to think that’s not the case. We know that u guys have done this other places and the people got their money. Is there any way u can help us out?"

His answer: “AMEX got paid, you should’ve got paid. Check with Legends management… sounds like the owners are trying to screw you. Tipsforjesus pays it’s tabs!”

Guess we’ll just have to stay tuned and see how far this one goes.
