First Tenants Move Into World Trade Center 13 Years After Terror Attack

First tenants move into World Trade Center 13 years after terror attack

A new One World Trade Center tower has opened in New York on the site where 2,700 people died in the September 11 Twin Towers attacks 13 years ago – and the new £2.4 billion skyscraper is instantly America’s tallest building.
Publisher Conde Nast will move into the 104-storey building today, which now dominates Manhattan’s skyline.

The new building is constructed from steel-reinforced concrete, and is described as ‘the most secure office space in America’.
‘The New York City skyline is whole again, as One World Trade Center takes its place in Lower Manhattan,’ said Patrick Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the site.
Today saw the removal of construction fences from the 16-acre site, as 170 Conde Nast employees moved into five floors of the office.
