Nigerian Military Dismisses Coup Fears

The Nigerian military has dismissed fears that it was planning to truncate the country’s democracy, maintaining that it would remain “apolitical” despite the “palpable tension”. Messages have been circulating on the social media that the military was ready to take over from President Goodluck Jonathan rather than allow Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to win the presidential election.
