With the engine running and his high beams on, a driver has been found asleep in the middle of a lane on a major Sydney freeway.
Emergency services were called to the stopped car on the M1 freeway at Somersby at 2am today.

The driver had stopped his car in lane one of three lanes, about 500m north of the Gosford on-ramp.
A truck driver who filmed the event and submitted the video footage to Dashcam Owners Australia tried to rouse the man, without luck.

He was sitting in the front seat, mouth agape and fast asleep.
“Officers assisted a 23-year-old from the vehicle and he was taken to Gosford hospital for a mandatory urine test,” a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
NSW police Inspector Phil Brooks said it was a "lucky escape", as he is thought to have driven 60km in that condition.

"(It) quite easily could have caused a crash," he said.
A breath test at the scene was clear, but police are now waiting for the results of a urine test.
Road safety advocates say the frightening incident could be a sign of a bigger problem.
"Drug driving is a huge concern and it's getting worse - about 1 in 10 road fatalities involve drugs," said the NRMA's Peter Khoury.
