Georgia Lottery Winner Murdered During Home Invasion

Craigory Burch Jr

A Georgia lottery winner was killed during a home invasion at his south Georgia home, the AJC reports.

Craigory Burch Jr., who won $434,272 in a Fantasy 5 drawing in November, was shot and killed when intruders broke into his home in Fitzgerald, GA. on Thursday.

Burch, 20, and his girlfriend were inside the home at the time of the break in. She escaped and ran to a neighbor for help, according to WALB-TV.

Friends told WALB that Burch used some of his winnings to enrich the lives of others.

The forklift operator generously bought gifts for friends and family or anyone in need, they said.

Police have no leads on suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office at 229-426-5161.

At least 10 lottery winners have ended up as murder victims according to ranker.com.
