President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said that with the quantum of problems his administration inherited, he sometimes wondered why he had to seek power at this time.
Buhari spoke in London while addressing members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom.
Our correspondent obtained a transcript of the President’s address to the gathering on Friday.
Buhari said he wondered why oil, which used to sell for over $140 per barrel, would reduce to $30 per barrel during his time as the President.

APC National leader, Bola Tinubu has agreed to accept an unreserved apology from the Chairman of DAAR Communication PLC, Chief Raymond Dokepsi as settlement for the libellous documentary “Lion of Burdillion” aired on Africa Independent Television, AIT against him.
Both Tinubu and Dokpesi’s lawyers this morning presented the terms of settlement reached on 29 January, 2016 before the trial court Justice Iyabo Akinkugbe. The terms of agreement include among other things, a retraction of the broadcast by AIT, an apology by AIT, which should be aired daily for a quarter.The trial court subsequently adopted the terms of settlement.
The apex court ruled that the tribunal had the constitutional power to try him and so his trial must continue.

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe received a standing ovation from his peers at the African Union (AU) summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Saturday as he handed over the chair of the body with a rousing speech, filled with more than his usual invective against former colonisers, imperialists, westerners, US President Barack Obama, the United Nations and whites.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon squirmed in his seat on the podium when the 91-year-old Mugabe – still feisty despite the annual eruption of rumours about his death this month – threatened that Africa would walk out of the UN unless it was given permanent representation on the UN Security Council.
Lowo Oyediran Ajanaku, 38, was brutally stabbed to death early this morning allegedly by his wife Yewande Oyediran nee Fatoki, at their Akobo estate home in Ibadan in the wee hours of today Feb. 2nd. The woman is said to be a lawyer and a Staff of Directorate of public prosecution at the Ministry of Justice, Ibadan, Oyo state.
It is no longer news that popular Nigerian actor, Olumide Bakare has been battling with a heart related ailment.
The veteran actor is currently admitted at the University College Hospital, UCH, in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he is receiving treatment.
A top Yoruba programme presenter, Jide Moronfolu, who recently visited the actor at his hospital bed, disclosed that Olumide Bakare has called on Nigerians to come to his aid.

Kakamas – Northern Cape Premier Sylvia Lucas praised the Kakamas community for their support to the family of the five children who died in a freezer. She also pledged to support the families in future.
Adrian Madjiedt, Jamiem Madjiedt, Anastacia Madjiedt, Elzaan Johnson and Elrich Johnson were laid to rest on Saturday after their bodies were discovered in an empty chest freezer on January 19. The children, aged between three and seven years, were all cousins.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara may dump the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC before the next general election in 2019, Hon. Mohammed Musa Soba, an insider and APC lawmaker has revealed.
Hon. Soba of Soba federal Constituency from Kaduna State in a recent interview with the Daily Post made the revelation. According to him, following the recent budget controversy, controversial new House rules and equal allocation of Committee leadership among the ruling All Progressives Congress and PDP, the actions of Hon. Yakubu Dogara and Dr. Bukola Saraki communicate their intention to abandon the APC before 2019.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan gave Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose $37 million cash for the June 21, 2014 governorship election, it was learnt yesterday.
A former Secretary of the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Temitope Aluko, a member of the team that prosecuted the election, said Dr. Jonathan gave Fayose $2 million in March 2014 for the primary election. He alleged that the cash was collected at the NNPC Towers in Abuja from businessman Ifeanyi Uba, who last night denied playing any role in the election or giving Fayose any money.
Some Northern governors are currently in Saudi Arabia on a 3-day visit to the Islamic Development Bank in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, where they are to meet with the bank's president, Ahmad Ali and other top officials, to solicit for partnership to help facilitate development in the region. The meeting between the governors and the bank's top executives started today and will last till Tuesday Feb. 2nd.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has spoken of the tensed moments he faced on March 28, 2015 ahead of his decision to concede victory to President Muhammadu Buhari after that year’s presidential election.
“I was actually in that valley on March 28, 2015”, he said.
Jonathan also narrated why he relinquished power to Buhari, saying he did not want Nigeria to slide into a theatre of war, with his fellow county men and woman dying, and many more pouring into other nations in Africa and beyond, as refugees.
